Rob Rosenthal is the John E. Andrus Professor of Sociology Emeritus at Wesleyan University; he received his MA and PhD in Sociology from the University of California at Santa Barbara.  Rosenthal writes and teaches in the areas of housing, homelessness, community research, the politics of decision-making, and the use of music in social movements.  He served twice as Wesleyan’s Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and as Director of the Allbritton Center for the Study of Public Life.  He’s worked with community groups for the past forty years, including as a founding Director of Wesleyan’s Center for Community Partnerships.

He plays guitar in the band Smokin’ Lilies; he still has a mean jump shot.
